Among the alkaline-earth-metal-doped fullerenes are several superconductors: Ca{sub 5}C{sub 60} ({ital T}{sub {ital c}}=8.4 K), Ba{sub 6}C{sub 60} ({ital T}{sub {ital c}}=7 K), and Sr{sub 6}C{sub 60} ({ital T}{sub {ital c}}=4 K). While the relevant molecular orbitals of the alkali-metal-doped fullerenes has {ital t}{sub 1{ital u}} symmetry, superconductivity in the alkaline-earth-metal-doped fullerenes is derived from the {ital t}{sub 1{ital g}} level that lies immediately above the {ital t}{sub 1{ital u}} manifold. We calculate and compare the effective on-ball pairing interaction in these states due to phonon exchange and electron-electron repulsion.
