Consol has been a market leader in residential window testing. Their business involves physical testing of windows and computer simulations of window performance on PCs. To improve the accuracy of their predictions, they wished to compare their simple PC-based software with the predictions of LLNL's more sophisticated supercomputer-based software. Presently, Consol, Inc. has moved out of the window testing market and is now involved with providing specifications for building contractors. The purpose of this CRADA project was to assist ConSol in identifying the reasons data from physical tests of windows under the NFRC-100-91 testing procedure disagreed with the calculated results using the mandated FRAME 1-dimensional window computer simulation program.
