Materials Data on TbC2 by Materials Project
TbC2 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Tb4+ is bonded in a distorted q4 geometry to ten equivalent C2- atoms. There are two shorter (2.47 Å) and eight longer (2.69 Å) Tb–C bond lengths. C2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to five equivalent Tb4+ and one C2- atom. The C–C bond length is 1.30 Å.
