The University of Florida's Department of Physics is working to become one of the premier physics departments in the United States. Included in the department's myriad of research endeavors is the High Energy Physicsgroup. This group is strongly involved with the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) at CERN, Geneve, Switzerland. The UF group led the design and construction of the muon detector and plays a key role in its management.
One of the nation's five largest universities, the University of Florida is a major, public, land-grant, research institution.
